I love this product and buy over and over again. I was looking for a creamy foaming cleanser and this is my HG.
You need the tinest amount to wash face and neck. It cleans off light make-up and oil and dirt. I only use it in the morning though as I like using a cream cleanser, eye make-up remover and a toner to remove make-up at night (the routine is relacing and pleasureable). The smell is amazing and at £12.00 it's very affordable. I recomened it to my Mum and she uses it too now. Plaus it just won Debenhams 'best face wash' award.
    Love this.

A distinctively memorable cleanser, for all of the wrong reasons, and which sent me to my local ER (Emergency Room), with superficial, first-degree facial burns!. Gentle?. For some, perhaps. After a single use of this cleanser, all that I could use on my facial skin was Neutrogena's Extra Gentle Cleanser, together with a Silverdine prescription cream that's applied on burns patients to promote healing, speed up tissue renewal, and to prevent infection. As far as could be determined, I didn't have an allergic reaction to this product. Rather, this cleanser stripped, damaged and peeled away the outermost layers of my skin: a chemical burn, of sorts. After six weeks, my skin eventually healed. However, please use this review as a cautionary tale. Maybe I am unique, but if you are at all sensitive, please purchase and use this with caution!. While it's a reasonably priced buy, it wasn't worth the heartache, in my experience.

I am on my second tube of this cleanser. I use this cleanser in the morning, and I also use this cleanser in the evening after removing my makeup. This cleanser is very gentle and does not cause my face to feel "tight", which is a problem that I have experienced with other cleansers. I also like the scent of this cleanser as it is not over-powering.
Only a small pea-sized amount is needed, and a tube lasted approximately six months with daily use (two times a day).
Using Retin-A I need a gentle cleanser, and this cleanser is moistuizing without causing me to break out.
The only issue that I have had with this cleanser is that I must completely avoid my eye area when using it. I have gotten it into my eyes, and it caused a burning sensation.
I will continue to purchase this cleanser.

My suggestion would be try this product UPGRADED version--that one with cottonseed, much much better than this product!

It's a shame you can't award a rating of "zero" lippies; if you could, that's what I would rate this product. I got this years ago in a Clarins trial pack. I have fairly strong, tolerant skin but this stuff is HARSH. Even though the instructions said "avoid eye area" and I did, indeed, avoid using this around my eyes, they would still burn just from the "vapours" or the scent of the ingredients. I think you could use this to strip floors! It was so harsh, even on my fairly strong skin. In fact, I was reluctant to try the newer formulations of their foaming cleansers (in the pale peachy beige tubes and which are much better and far more gentle to the skin). This stuff is awful. Is Clarins actually still making this original product (white tube)? I can't imagine that anyone would buy it more than once.

This stuff broke me out in the worst way. NOt only that but it burned my eyes and when I put my moisturizer on after using stuff, my skin would start burning again! (That has only happened to me while using this stuff) When I break out it tends to happen in the chin area and nowhere else but after using this I broke out everywhere. Cheeks, forehead, between my eyebrows...I would never repurchase this. It is not worth the money. And it is NOT gentle.

Let's forget about the claims and focus on the actual performance:

    Does it foam?

I have no idea. I use a pea sized amount and rub it in with a face that's been primed with virgin coconut oil and damp palms.
    Does it hurt sensitive skin?
Not mine, but I do notice a tightness afterwards that I correct with virgin coconut oil as a moisturizer. I don't give my skin a chance to parch after using this.
Does it remove all make up?

No. That's sad, right? I swipe with moistened cotton after using and I still see traces of MAC foundation. Not cool.
    Does it smell good?
Yes, if you like the scent.
    Will I buy it again?
No. I like Clarins, but no. It's not worth the money or effort. It doesn't cleanse my skin in the way it should.

This is my favourite cleanser. I am even on my second bottle of this and I never buy products twice. It is basic. It will not fulfill acne needs, nor will it help with wrinkles. It cleans your face so that it is squeaky clean, but the skin does not feel dry. I love this because when I use my toner, dirt does not show up on the cotton pad, meaning the cleanser cleans extremely well. The lather is so rich and luxurious. Money well-spent.

I got a generous sample of Gentle Foaming Cleanser. The cleanser removes makeup easily but it stings my eyes. I am usually not sensitive when it comes to facial products so don't know what happened. Anyway, I gave it to my mum so she could try it and it did not irritate her eyes so I don't know what conclusion I can draw from that.
Since it didn't work very well for me I gave my sample to my mother. I will not purchase it in full size. I still give it three lippies cause my mother really likes it. continued >>

I must say, I've read lots of good reviews on this one and was disappointed. It really broke me out badly, though thank God the spots went away when I stopped using it.

Well, it doesn't foam. I don't know why products advertise with way-out claims, or products like this say "foaming" when it doesn't do anything like that. I guess that's why there are people who don't like it, like with avon (big with the empty promises). It's easy to critique a lip plumper/eye cream when it promises you the world, and only delivers half of it.
Now, onto the cleanser, I was pleasantly surprised. It was my mother's, and I've been going back to this because I have yet to find my hg of am cleansers. I have awesome scrubs, stupendous masks, but only one other effective non-drying cleanser that I can rely on (MD Forte's II for night). Something gentle, just to clean my face in the morning. I don't wear makeup to bed lol so I don't need something harsh and purging nor something for that purpose. This fits the bill, but I'll let my mother continue to buy it :)

This cleanser cleans my face well. It removed every trace of makeup and leaves me feeling clean. However it did not manage to get off my Shiseido sunscreen. I'm not shocked because nothing seems to get that stuff off. This does clean off mascara and eyeliner and other stubborn eye makeup. It doesn't stip my skin of moisture and it has a pleasant smell. My only gripe is the price. At $20 a tube for a fairly small tibe it's quite expensive and I would stick with my regular H20 cleanser.

I rec'd this in a swap. I don't know why it says it's a foaming cleanser because it hardly lathered for me. Also, it stings my eyes *badly* even when the product doesn't get in them! I have very resistant skin/eyes so this was surprising.

I only bought this because the Dior rinse-off cleanser was out of stock and the saleswomen convinced me that this was 10 times better. Well it wasn't. It's not a bad cleanser but it's not fantastic either. It's rather flat and takes two goes to remove all makeup. I don't like the feeling of my skin after, it's not exactly tight but it feels restricted. I won't repurchase, the Dior rinse of cleanser leaves your skin clean, fresh and bright.

This face wash is gentle, yet it removes every stitch of eye makeup- even coats and coats of mascara! I like the texture, the smell, and the clean without feeling stripped of moisture results! An excellent cleanser in the winter for combination skin. I will not be able to use it in the summer; however, when I become more oily. It is expensive, but a little goes a long way. If you have combo skin and struggle to get all of your eye makeup off, even after a good eye makeup remover, try this! :)

I have gone through every cleanser in the book....I am sensitive to positvely everything and even water touching my face will cause my skin to have some strange reaction and redness. I was diagnosed with mild rosacea, but even with the dermatologists recomendations, I have had difficulty finding the perfect face cleanser. They are either wayyyy to drying, too moisturizing, or seem to leave this strange slick film on my face...Dermalogica I am looking at you....although I have to admit I am jealous that company as worked for so many....anywho I digress...I have been on the hunt for the perfect HG cleanser for years and was thoroughly disappointed after reading how a lot of sensitive skinned girls loved Aveeno, because I have OCD and cannot just try out one product, but feel it necessary to buy the whole line of the product, I was disgruntled and so was the the Target woman who I had to return all of the stuff to and explain, that NOTHING worked on me. In fact, it not only did not work on me, but caused my overly sensitive skin to react in horrible ways (bumps, extreme redness, allergic reactions, etc.) However, I cannot praise this Clarins cleanser enough...i am thinking of resurrecting a statue in its honor to thank it for fixing all of my facial issues...I could not believe how well this product has worked on me, it makes my skin squeaky clean and yes the product is a tad expensive, but when I tell you that even a pea sized amount is too much for your face, I know this will last much longer than most face washes thus making the price bearable and in my opinion for good healthy skin, you really cannot put a price on that. I use this and the Clarins chamomile toner which I thought for sure would cause flareups, sicne it had a scent, but yet again this amazing company proved me wrong and the toner is like icing on the cake when used with the cleanser. In fact, the cleanser cleans my everything off of my skin so well that when I finish with the toner, the cotton pad is completely clean...no makeup residue at all...its a miracle in a tube. I am a 100% satisfied with this and am going to try my damndest not to get sucked in to marketing ploys to try something else miraculous when I know this works for me and is finally clearing up the redness on my face. Fingers crossed.....
